Fermenting foods is an ancient tradition practised by cultures around the world to preserve food. Fermentation has recently come into the limelight for the numerous health benefits derived from eating cultured food as well as the delicious depth of flavour that is achieved. We will cover the basics for improving your gut health with simple fermentation.
In this hands on course, we will equip you with the knowledge on how to start your fermentation journey using basic ingredients and simple equipment in the comfort of your own home. There will also be tips on how to enjoy your fermented creations. There will be plenty of tasting, lunch will be provided and jars of your own ferments to take home. You will need to bring jars, sizes will be emailed to you a week prior.
Natural Cookery School recipes are inspired by the season. Classes are a combination of hands-on and demonstration, with plenty of added tips and knife skills. You will work by yourself unless you are coming with someone in our teaching kitchen, creating the recipes and tasting along the way. We'll enjoy a shared meal at the end of the class, so please bring a container in case of leftovers... You will be provided with an apron to use for the day and recipe packs to take home. No washing up necessary as we have someone on hand to take care of that.
